About one month ago we started out first Movie Competition and we are quite pleased with the number of submissions we have received. We now know there is an interest for this kind of events and we will most definitely have more of them. We would like to thank all participants and we hope to see you again in the next Style Movie Competition! Daniel 1. Tranquilness by TiMbO The cams, the transitions and partly the mood sync made this my first choice. Although I judged this movie harder than the others because of the q3 cam system, it's still my first choice because of the solid presentation and flow throughout the movie. 2. F1sCo's Style Competition Vid by F1sCo The atmosphere, cams and overall impression is what made this my second choice. In most cases custom skies just doesn’t fit but it actually works out quite well here. (If some of the wavy and pixelate effect wouldn’t had been in the movie this might had been my first choice.) 3. Kannebrann by MUNKY Even for being an unserious video this video still appeals too me, it has a nice mood and pretty solid editing. (4.) Imagine I just had to mention this movie as well. It had it moments and if it had kept the same editing as the first minute throughout the whole movie it would had been my top 3. Pava 1. Spite by Moltes Safe and smart music choice. Overall synch and editing is good. Creates a decent feeling, much because of the music. 2. Tranquilness by TiMbO Nice camera action through out the whole movie. Nice original music choice. Has a strong defined feeling. 3. Aliquantum Matena by smaK I like his text fx. A good introduction, decent synch and editing through out the whole movie. Semi defined feel (song). Andreas 1. F1sCo's Style Competition Vid by F1sCo Nice introduction with many camera angles. Makes it look very interesting. A good "explosion" start with a colt spray following more camera angles, nice editing. The movie follows with good synch, both on ineye scenes and cameras. I especially like it at cpl_strike when the the rushes b-bombsite, nice tune and nice synch with fitting effects. I give this movie the number one spot due to the editing with nice fitting effects and cams synched with the music. Every chorus part contained a nice fragscene with an "explosion" feeling. Really great. 2. Tranquilness by TiMbO A nice quake3 vid with a big atmospheric feeling, i like that he kept the whole vid "slow" and didn’t make it like the most vids, with a high tempo. The slow scenes fits perfectly to the audio and therefore, creates the nice atmosphere. The negative parts with this vid was the opacity layers popping up some times that wasn't synchronized or anything. Some were placed nicely, but the most of them were useless. 3 Spite by Moltes Begins with a little bit simple matte effect but follows up with a nice tilted cam. The following cam moving into the ct is also very good and works good together with an explosion start just like F1sCos's vid. I've chosen this vid to be number three because of the very nice synch. The shakes that he uses in the vid are also very nicely used, even if it is a very simple preset/script in afx/vegas. The negative part: the effects except the shakes but as I said, very nice synch in this vid. Anthony 1. F1sCo's Style Competition Vid by F1sCo Fiasc0, I think, made an awesome movie. At times I felt he wasn't clean with the effects he used and the whole movie proved that he needs a lot of work on his HLTV cams. But for some reason, the mood he created using colors, the sky and just the particular shots he picked was awesome. The shot at 1:19....wow... that angle with the sky and the falling T was just brilliant and beautifully done. The editing he did to the song was what I really, really thought did it for me. It was maybe over the top...maybe...but he worked so well with his song. I could tell the work he put into it. The cuts he made in the beginning and at the end were pretty good too. Again worked well with the song. My top pick. 2. Kannebrann by MUNKY I loved Munkys quality (little bigger than the others size wise). his HLTV's, and the most important thing that really stood out were Munky's transitions. Flawless and just worked so well. Munky edited it amazingly and kept everything clean. His hltv's flowed and his effects, where they were put, worked well. Liked the beginning because I was under the impression he was poking fun at most movies these days. I also liked that he was not afraid to work with rap and did it well. My 2nd pick. 3. Tranquilness by TiMbO Ahhh tranquilness. It was a beautifully directed movie with some awesome shots. The only problems I had were his effects that he used and some of the shots. As soon as I started the movie and heard the music, I got a little scared, but soon really started feeling the direction and mood of the film. Like I said, the effects he chose (opacity mostly) were a problem at time, being messy and didn't really flow well with the rest of the video. I somewhat understood why he did opacity overlaps at times, but it just was not clean enough. The shots he chose were good. Nothing over the top and very central to the action. However, with the beautiful tool he has to use, I would have liked to see more close ups and better angles altogether. I think he could have pulled off some better camera angles to add to the mood. Overall, the style of this film was awesome and different. I liked it. My 3rd pick. (4. Aliquantum-Matena_2006-smaK and Spite) I gave these two honourable mentions. I originally had a battle between these 2 for 2nd and 3rd but knocked them both out when I really looked at them from a far. They used their songs well, but they were just two messy and their styles needed some adjustments. I think spite had one part in it that was 10 seconds of the blue flash effect from DS 2 Beta. Had Aliquantum some good directing and cinematography but his HLTV's were just random. Nothing got accomplished by usng them the half the time and they bored me. The color scheme he used was nothing new as well. Qujon: 1. Spite by Moltes Good movie overall. It seems like he has prioritized the synch and it turned out great. The soft transitions, the velocity changes and all the shakes creates a nice flow through the whole movie but I think the creator got to much inspiration from Xyandie's Dreamscape 2 beta. The text in the intro almost cost the movie the first place in my ranking. It does not fit and just being static makes it boring. 2. Tranquilness by TiMbO Wow, the music and the editing created a atmospheric flow similar to the quake3 movies made by shaolinproductions. Some cams were really top notch while others where pointless. The effects, the opicity layers where often very nice but sometimes they were not synched and it just made it messy. The lack of presentation and the monotonous flow made it miss the first place. I missed ingamesound and more powerful velocity changes. 3. F1sCo's Style Competition Vid by F1sCo Without the paused HLTV-cams this would be a winner for me. Paused HLTV-cams, like it this movie, really annoys me and they disturb the flow. Solid editing, good synch and some nice fast switches got the movie in my top3.And I have to say that the cam at 01.20 is awesome. The best sequence in this competition. (4. Kannebrann ) (5. The skillses crossing) cRZYFST: 1. Spite by Moltes I basically chose this flick as my no. 1 because it had the least amount of downsides - he used a great and atmospheric song and synced the video and audio with an obvious understanding of the mood (i.e. slowmos and fast paced clips at times when they were needed), he chose the best frags from the demos in my opinion and combined everything with some decent effects, nothing that looked too forced. Clean and down-to-earth - that's how I would describe molte's work. 2. F1sCo's Style Competition Vid by F1sCo This guy proved with his contest movie that he has a great sight for the right mood as well. But, there was one thing that annoyed me a lot about this contribution what finally made me rank it 2nd in the end: the continuing usage of paused HLTV demos throughout the whole flick. He definitely lost some points because of this as it just looks both lazy and lame. Overall, the use of filters reminded me quite a lot of Spite - it had nothing really knew but the things he had in the flick were based on a solid editing. All in all I have to say that it was a tough choice between this one and Spite but as I already mentioned, the rather lame use of the HLTV demos ruined the great impression I got from the rest of the movie. 3. Tranquilness by TiMbO I think we all agree on this movie. It was something entirely different compared to the other vids (besides the fact that it was a Q3 video). We gave him POV demos from a fast paced game and what he comes up with is a very slow and calm movie, in regard to the song choice as well as the clip speed. The focus was definitely not on great shots as you would see them from the players' POVs, but more on creative camera work. The fact that we don't get to see a single ineye shot underlines this thesis. It's definitely a work of its own, nothing copied or imitated. But, to rank the movie higher than #3, it lacked a little bit of other creative aspects in my eyes. The effects he used were nothing really outstanding, mostly blur as it's used so often in Q3 vids and some ordinary crossfades. Only great cam work is unfortunately not enough in my eyes to be the number 1, but since Timbo obviously wanted this clean impression the movie finally creates, I think he can be happy about making it to the third place. Conclusion 1. F1sCo's Style Competition Vid (11 Points) by F1sCo It was a close battle with “Tranquilness” but “F1sCo's Style Competition Vid” takes the crown due to having the most First places among the judges top 3’s. My name is Tim K., i'm 17 years old and im living in the north of germany in a small city called Aurich. I started creating vdeos in the age of 15... i began with producing counterstrike videos like almost everyone. But than i had a vision of Quake3... oh, i think that's sound bad... today i create videos about different games. You came second in our first Style Movie Competition. How does it feel? Did you think you had a chance to come in the top 3 when you submitted? Oh well... I’m feeling great because I never thought that it is possible for me to place the second. Ok, I don't know the other submissions but I think some videos are great. The whole competition was very good the only thing I dislike was that the first three places never get the playboy bunnies and the sports-car. ;) I really like the comp. and I’m very interested in other comps from you! Keep it up! What can we expect from you in the future (in terms of gaming-movies)? In the moment I’m working on a video about a well known HL² modification. After that I have plans about producing a Quake3 Fragvideo... but this is in the future. Any shout-outs you would like to give? Yeah, I would like to thank all guys in #e-pics and every member of electronic-pictures, also i want to thank my brother for make me angry all the time and some other peoples that names i don know yet :P <3 u all ! Hello Moltes, could you please start with introducing yourself? Hello daniel, my name is PĂ©ter Nagy, also known as 'Moltes' on the internet. I live in NyĂregyháza, in the north-east of Hungary. I'm 16 years old, I started my 3rd grade in September in secondary school. I started making CS movies in February 2004 and since then I made plenty of movies but I released them to the public only in Hungary. Now I'm a member of Hybrid-Movies, a Hungarian team. You came third in our first Style Movie Competition. How does it feel? Did you think you had a chance to come in the top 3 when you submitted? I'm very happy, that I achieved the third place because this was my first project with Vegas Video because before I used mainly Premiere. For this reason I didn't think that this movie was enough for the top 3. What can we expect from you in the future (in terms of gaming-movies)? I'm planning to release a short movie soon starring myself, called "Moltes the movie 3 - Special Edition". It's almost done but this video will be a bit different from the regular movies because the music. After finishing this project, I am going to start a movie with some nice frags by known and unknown players. Any shout-outs you would like to give? I would like to thank the Hybrid-Movies team for their support and you the interview. All submissions – In the order they were submitted 1. Gratz to the top 3!
war klar das die Deutschen da im Vorteil sind,
bei dem wissenstand! =)
Here are the lyrics:
Style, have I ever told you that I love you?
Style, noone loves you like I do!
I want this interview really really really bad!
If I don't win I will get... upset!
So please let me win, even though I havn't made a movie!
You all know I'm more than just very very groovy!
If I'd bother I would win, but my wallot is very thin so I can't afford to pay you out!
So here's a tribute to your wonderful team!
I know you guys will go to the extreme!
If I won't win this competition I will start the ignition and drive into pava's livingroom!
Yeah I will drive into pava's livingroom!
But next time...........
edit*
After seing Mr. Wilds contrubution I just have to say three things, don't take them all as "I fucking hate you", just listen..
1. I found the movie annoying in many places (especially the cpl_fire -pistolround-scene)
2. The flight at 02:49 is great imo, dunno why but it's really awesome (see? nbcwag! :DD)
3. I'd tip you to lay off the wave-effect, it makes the edges look like (as we say in sweden) knullfjärt.
But somehow I still like the movie, slap me somebody!
Great work, especially by style who (somehow) really found great demos for the CS-part, and took time to say what they really felt. Fun to see what people have to say ;)
