Assassin's Creed: Origins

#1 - 27. Jan 2018 04:00
Amazing what a year off from releasing a game does for a company and a series...

Just started playing this little gem and Im smitten.  Landscapes and environments are gorgeous.  Side missions are fun.  Exploration is exciting.  The storyline is pretty basic thus far, but im sure itll develop as time goes on.  i actually like the modern storyline and the fact that they tied in the Fassbender movie.  Can't wait to play more.  What do you guys think of it?  No spoilers though.  I'm only at Alexandria

I considered buying it. Played every game from 1-Unity but was so disappointed with Unity that i took a break from the series, Black Flag was my definite favorite! How is the combat in Origins? In Unity it was trash

I'm right there with you, spenc, and I had my doubts as well.  However, the exploration is so much better in this.  The expansiveness of anicent Egypt and the sheer beauty of the environments were enough for me.  The combat is pretty cool.  After upgrading your skill/ability tree, you learn different moves in battle.  Shield parrying, charged attacks, a "limit break" attack after you build up the new Adrenaline Bar.  Additionally, really fast and intuitive switches between swords and bow/arrows.  I find it fun, but also challenging with a little bit of a learning curve.  It's not just mashing one button.  There's a lot of dodging involved.  If you've played all of the previous ones like me, you'll appreciate this.

I took a break from AC after it essentially wrapped in #3. Then tried Liberation and was boring so watched the movie edit on youtube. Now I think I almost feel ready to go back to it - I'll start with Rogue tho - they say it has interesting plot, which is something which I'm very much after when it comes to AC. Then maybe Black Flag since I hear so many good things about it.

Will probably try Origins when it drops price. I still have Shadow of War to play since i bouight it in october xD

Desmond Miles was the face of the modern arc.  Hasnt been the same since.  However, the newest modern storyline is interesting.  They tell the story through exploratory methods too (ie. looking at files on the characters laptop).

Yeah, they're doing that exploratory abstergo shit for some time now. They resolved the main arc, so I guess there's little to do?
