Quality is a bit unclear

#1 - 11. Jan 2010 19:37
Ingame quality with nHancer:
AA: 32xS combined multi- and supersampling with Gamma correction
AF: 16x
Vertical sync: Off
Texture filtering: High Quality
Negative LOD BIAS: Clamp
Force mip maps: Trilinear (it's a Direct3D setting, but i don't know if it does any good in cs opengl? - i wrote it anyway)

Settings:
1280*800
200 fps ingame (no sample) and 40 fps output in vegas
Raw-pics filetype: bmp
Raw-pics codec: HuffyUV 2.1.1
No colors
Encoded with Juggaknots 1.4.5 legion - xvid autobitrate (9000 kbps)

Link to the clip: http://www.myupload.dk/showfile/4036897060c.avi/

I think it's a bit blurry sometimes? - Can anybody give me some suggestions how to make it better? Thanks.

Well, I've heard that Huffyuv might decrease the quality a little (very little, maybe JuGGa can confirm this?)

Also, maybe read the technical info about different color settings. Some settings will decrease the quality, and maybe some will increase (?) the quality. Dunno, I haven't read anything myself ^^

And if we ask nicely, maybe the Gods of Quality will tell us their secrets...

Hmm I dont see anything wrong in that clip to be honest.

Ohh there is one thing. Too high bitrate so I cant watch it REALLY fluently.

9k bitrate ? Are you out of your mind ?:P

Make a longer clip, about 1 min. Colorize it, add some sync, music etc. Than we can talk.

Single clip isn't a good test for encoding settings imo.

Huyff - I've tested it not in as pro conditions as Juggaknot ( lol ) but I've found only one 'mistake'. It makes your clips darker than uncompressed( which leaves everything default ) .

Okay slize i will

9k bitrate was the autosetting with juggaknots 1.4.7? :D xvid.

The divx264 doesnt work :(

Why can't you watch it fluently? Because of "bad" hardware?

Technically there is a different between Huffyuv and uncompressed, but honestly I can't see any difference.. I used Huffyuv in my Gamecenter movie, and ALOT of people ask me about the great quality.

But seriously I dont see any blur ;p Maybe you get the blur due to motion blur, how many fps did u used , while capturing ?

x264 - what is the problem HoutN?

And if we're talking about low HDD space - i know that pain :D It makes you wanna destroy your comp . . . trully

My PC Is not that bad but my gfx card has 76 C HAHA smth is wrong with my comp , soon I will fix that.
But honestly 9000 bitrate is really high . Type for example 5500 or 6000 , manually.

I captured with 200 fps ingame and 40 output in vegas

x264 is too slow encoding - i hate the wate time :)

I think that the clip is blurry on my screen, because i have a 22" 2233rz syncmaster with 1680*1050 - Maybe thats why :)

Normally I dont watch cs movies on fullscreen, 1440x900 .

If HD - than I turn the fullscreeon on . Otherwise dont ! It becomes blurry .

How about you ?: )

My clip IS in hd (720p) :) ? - its 1280*720, and thats hd, so i think that i would be capable of watching it in fullscreen, but apparently not. - But it actually looks nice when im not watching in fullscreen.

What should my bitrate with xvid be, if i use 1280*720 and 200fps(40 output) ? 7000?

Imo it's maximum. You have to test . Try 7k at first. If the quality is damn sick dan leave it or even lower a bit if you want.

HD clip per minute shouldnt be over 50 MB...

Although x264 and HD is a killer - why it's not working on your comp ?

What do you mean with "Although x264 and HD is a killer"

I will try 7k then - I want nice quality in my projects :)

x264 DOES work on my computer, but it takes so damn long. Encoding time is x2 the time that the xvid codec use. - but when im done with my project, then i will encode with x264, because its awesome.

x264 from Legion is slow ? What PC do u have ?:D

By saying x264 and HD Is a killer I was talking about 1280x720 , encoded to .mp4 makes almost every low PC lag. Mine isn't so low but sometimes I got some troubles with viewing it fluently.

2,75 ghz intel dual core
9800gtx+
4 gb ram

When im done with the project, im gonna encode both xvid and x264, so that everyone can watch the vid smoothly.
