"skipping" models when slow-mo

#1 - 9. Apr 2009 09:09
Hey guys, there is something that I can't seem to stop from happening.

When I view my demos in slow motion, they periodically "skip" by moving back to the position they were at a fraction of a second beforehand.

I have uploaded a video (500kb) to demonstrate exactly what I mean http://www.filefactory.com/file/agac967/n/Untitled2_avi
http://files.filefront.com/Untitled2avi/;13584531;/fileinfo.html

I record in HLTV. Its custom config reads:

maxclients 0
delay 0
rate 20000
updaterate 40
nomaster 1

If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated, since I don't know what to do and until this problem is solved, I can't film anything.

so how do you get a smooth (extreme) slow motion third-person perspective shot of something moving?

recording in povs wont let me achieve the camera shots i want to get. that is not an option

dem_forcehltv

views the pov like it was a HLTV, only entities recorded near to the player will show up. IE. anything you can see with a wallhack should be visible in the forced demo

ok, thanks i'll use that where i can.

does anyone know if there is any way to actually solve the problem though, instead of working around it?

I changed cl_fixtimerate to 0 as advised in the link above. ex_interp is 0.1

things are now smooth. models now seem to "glide" very very slightly across the ground but it probably isnt noticeable if you're not looking for it.

problem solved, and thanks again guys. hopefully people with the same problem will search and find this thread in the future

I have the same problem but I'm not using HLTV demo.
I'm using HLAE with DOD1.3

mirv_movie_export_sound 1
mirv_movie_fps 400
mirv_sample_enable 1
mirv_sample_sps 1200
mirv_movie_bmp 0

VirtualDub > 400fps + Huffyuv
Vegas > Render @ 40 fps
Slowmotion @ 10%

so here it is:

(sorry for the size of the clip)

CS 1.6, DoD (and any other old games) are not meant for that high fps outputs. Isn't "maximum" 1000 fps (heard this as server-wise)?

So is that normal ? It's 'cause HL engine is old ?
