I also suggest you to encode a movie by Xvid in Virtual Dub :) You're not such a noob and you know what Virtual Dub is don't you ?:D

It's better to compress by vdub, But when I compress in Vegas I get a good result also : ) It depends on settings.

XviD isn't bad, however to get the settings right for two pass is a hard and boring task, therefor I usually used single pass instead because I was to lazy.

So basically you compress any your movie in vegas with WMV for example and then you compress it with virtual dub using Xvid? Right?:)

ehh, no? Virtual Dub cant even open .wmv files :E
I suggest you to render everything in uncompressed, before the final render :>

Deckarn said it !

I was trying to find my settings for xvid - 2passes. I did that , result was awesome but I've reinstalled windows and I can't achieve great quality with low filesize now : )

CS is quite hard for xvid codec.

I'm pretty sure that you're thinking :

"Fuck... Why I cant encode my movie with flawless result as people do that in real movies ? IT's the same, xvid is xvid , cs movie = real movie . A MOVIE . "

Here's a problem. In games-movies there are many colors and there is fast motion . Also all of us use high resultions. That also matters , but somehow I can get better quality with the same settings in HD than 960x600. Strange...

Try using x264 codec -> mp4./ogg/mkv. I always get the best result so far with low filesize . You can find many tutorial @ internet . If you do that , don't use makemp4.bat method , try Me Gui.

IF you're not patient , leave xvid ( try mp4 - wmv sucks ) or use single pass with high bitrate = huge filesize .
