I'm sitting here relishing the fact that I just had the worst night of work ever. It's nights like these that you realize it only can get better from here. Wait, be right back, the fire alarms are going off.

Ok back. So the hospital just burned down and I'm now typing in a charred shack that used to represent the Xray department's front office. But you know what? Raindrops keep falling on my head... and just like the guy whose feet are too big for his bed (insert singing montage)... Nothing's really worrying me. You know why? Perseverance. Constant vigilance. Quiet, Brendan Gleeson. I'm working here.

There are days where you wake up, take a look at your life, and realize there's nothing left. I swear, if I write one more allusion to a song or movie I might spontaneously combust due to my expansive knowledge of pop culture. No, really, there are days you double click Vegas and stare at your time line for hours on end with not a thought to bother you in your endless struggle to slay the dragon that ate your mother's eggs but she uses dairy products and aunt Jane is lactose intolerant but that cheese sandwich was much better with provolone... sorry, day dreamed there. Do you see? Ideas friends... this is the source of enlightenment.

It's ok that something doesn't come to you the minute you press play and listen to that professionally mixed soundtrack you just put together yesterday from the one orchestral song and two trance dance mixes you heard the night before at Club 187 in the local ghetto. Art is about...you guessed it, TAKING YOUR TIME. It has somewhat occurred to me that our nation's euth is way, Way, WAY too A.D.D. these...man, i really need to finish shopping for my... i can't wait to listen to my new Ronald Jenkees' CDs!

Yes, take your time. Listen to your song. Envision a path. if nothing comes to you... don't force it. Sleep on it. Go for a walk. Watch a movie. Do something that takes your mind away from your project. It's like love. It'll fall in your lap when you're not expecting it. That idea will strike you when you least expect it... when you're washing your hands, when you're brushing your teeth, when you're in the shower... No not all ideas will hit you when you're practicing good hygiene... However, if you step out of your head for once and allow your mind to wander, wonderful things will happen.

Don't be discouraged. A.D.D. has diseased our world today. Take your time. You're not racing anyone. Perfect your craft and make it your own. If it takes a little extra time, so be it. As long as it is how you envisioned it and is not thrown together for the sake of releasing something, then you're in good standing. Too many people have destroyed a film because they were too intent on chasing fame or trying to catch a deadline that will only taunt you in the long run.

But don't get discouraged. Don't give up because nothing has struck you. Once you do get enlightened, the flood gates will rise and your mind will be a resevoir of imagination. Persevere and sucess will naturally follow.

I'm doing that, but it's too bad I don't have much patience when it comes to moviemaking, but I'm taking my time.

Yes, you are right. It happens often to me when I am tired of my project and trying to make it quickly but after a couple of days I can see what I could do better and what I want to correct or add to this piece... but it's too late 'cause I've already finished it.

Wow Tony. All these months I've known you, and I JUST now read this -_-. I guess I can attribute it to the immense patience I want to add to my life? haha. I just gotta say this article spoke to me on so many levels, and you wrote it so well that I've decided to read this article as a prayer before I got to bed, and bits and pieces of it as I brush my teeth in the morning.. :D thank you for being you Anthony.. you have made a difference in at least my life.
